Uncalled for whining by MIC

The published news (Malaysiakini, Dec 14, 2015) about MIC central working committee member S Vell Paari reprimanding myPPP president M Kayveas on the latter’s speech at MyPPP’s recent annual general meeting is not only uncalled for but certainly sounds like a schoolboy threat.

As a party president Kayveas has every right, duty and honour to convey his members’ concerns at the AGM. It is not about spilling complaints in the public domain. MIC leaders should know better than to poke their fingers into another political party’s AGM, to begin with.

Vell Paari’s claim that Kayveas is “demonising BN component parties” also sounds like a younger sibling gripping over a sense of guilt. Does he not know that Malaysia is a democratic nation that thrives on a coalition that has a healthy duty to check on each other?

As a learned politician, Vell Paari would have done greater honour to his own political component party if he proved his party’s accountability in a transparent manner rather than tell Kayveas to go quietly and complain to the boss behind the curtains.

And for him to issue a statement to the effect that Kayveas is “demonising (the) BN component party” does more damage to BN. His claim that the GE14 will be “an election that Kayveas decided to lose for the Najib-led BN” is not only negative and foolish but is like trying to bring down the house from the inside.

There appears to be much ill-will going by the reported statement of Vell Paari. Is this why then MIC is seen by many in bad light?

He better be told that Kayveas is not griping. He is speaking the language of his party members who have not only transformed their party machinery with a name-change reflecting the spirit of public accountability and transparency firmly anchored in myPPP – irrespective of whether it is from within BN or from amongst its political opponents.

The complainant’s attempt to even get personal and derogatory about Kayveas’s appointment speaks volumes of a misguided leader. Wonder why MIC must continue to suffer such humiliation?
